Yu Narukami
Yu Narukami is the main protagonist of Persona 4 and its many spin-offs as well as the leader of the Investigation Team, nephew of Ryotaro Dojima and older cousin to Nanako Dojima, though he tends to view her more as a little sister than a cousin.
Yu was born in the big city, but due circumstances with his parents, was forced to move in with his uncle Ryotaro Dojima in Inaba for a year. There, he soon befriended Chie Satonaka and Yukiko Amagi and later, Yosuke Hanamura.

Personality[edit | edit source]
Yu is a bit of an oddball for Persona protagonist, or even Persona characters in general. Unlike Minato Arisato or Ren Amamiya, Yu had a largely good, happy life both before and during the events of his main adventure. Even though his parents jobs forced him to move for a year, it's never implied that his relationship with them was anything short of a normal, loving family and he seemed to have many good friends at his old school, as his departure was met with disappointment. Yu would quickly become a true member of the Dojima family, with Ryotaro Dojima and Nanako both viewing Yu as a brother.
Yu is a very good-natured person, almost never showing any hostility towards anyone outside of those who were considered suspects to be The Killer, and even then, Yu thought the idea of murdering The Killer was abhorrent, even when Nanako died by his hands. Although he's somewhat anti-social and stoic-faced, he's always kind, courteous and generally friendly to others. Yu is good at making long-lasting friendships and tries to always be there for his friends, offering support and at times, advice. Despite his kindness, Yu is willing to use unsavory or harsh truths in order to better those he cares about, such as calling Ryotaro a coward for neglecting Nanako out of a self-inflected sense of guilt. He seems to view members of the Investigation Team as family and is usually very loving and caring towards them, especially in the final months of his stay. The inverse also appears to be true, as both Chie and Teddie admitted they loved Yu dearly in a non-romantic context.
Although being generally intelligent, Yu has several quirks that may make him look dumb, such as his bizarre habit of eating almost anything he finds in the Dojima Residence fridge.
Yu is quite musically inclined. If he joins the Culture Club, Yu shows an almost prodigy level of talent with his trumpet, and later in his stay in Inaba, he proves to be quite a good guitar player in Yosuke's band. He's also a skilled athlete, able to become an exceptionally good player of Basketball and Soccer respectively. Yu has many other talents, he's bilingual, able to speak Japanese and English (or at least write in English at a high enough level to work as a decent translator), a master Swordsmen capable of using both Broadwords and Katanas, a reasonably good cook and amazing people skills. and with the use of a Persona, Yu is also a skilled magician, able to cast any range of magic.
